in reality, when is someone ever likely to drill above a CU?
Called out one sunday afternoon "Unable to reset RCD"

Found 30 m A rcd incomer unable to reset with all MCBs OFF

N-E fault. Disconnected all Nuetrals and tested, found N-E short on Immersion circuit.

Guy had been putting shelf up directly above CU!

Wondered why drill had stopped and Tele gone off.

If this one short section is the only bit forcing an RCD, change that short bit to surface in trunking and no RCD needed.

Re post #23, if someone is daft enough to drill directly above a CU, then it really makes a mockery of safe zones. I'll bet the same guy would drill directly above a light switch and think nothing of it (until the room went dark). Safe zones do nothing if the general public don't appreciate what they are and why they are. It only stops other sparky's drilling through cables.

Yes safe zones mean nothing to non sparks. There was a bit in anothe rthread about this the other day too.
