RCD or NOT

here's the scenario,

a smoke alarm on its own circuit,the only bit of the circuit buried behind some plasterboard on top of the CU in the cupboard under the stairs, the rest is all in the ceiling void or the cupboard between floors.

does this circuit require RCD?.

I agree it does, but this is one case where I certainly wouldn't want it on it's own RCD/RCBO, I'd want it on the same one as the bathroom lights, or the socket feeding the telly!

As a matter of interest why wouldn't you want it on the same RCD as the TV?

Ah. Sorry, my misread. I wouldn`t want it on the same circuit as the TV; Which / what RCD is really irrespective. My bad. Oops!

Put it through a bit of earthed conduit it would not need RCDing then.

That`ll comply with 7671; but doesn`t meet 5839-6, IIRC
