So @CPWS,,, your suggesting that some self employed (and more importantly self respecting) spark is going to want to bother going out to a job that they didn't do just to test it and connect it up

...and take on ALL the liability for the job and notify it to the LABC (which they shouldn't do as they didn't do the work) :shakehead

Andy why not? That's exactly how my shed was wired. I discussed the design and I did all the donkey work. He checked it, connected it, tested and certified.

Are you really trying to tell me that a few surface mounted cables (possibly in conduit) are not inspectable? If he wires it in bell wire then don't connect it. Nailing T&E to a shed wall doesn't make you a sparky.

Errrr, Yup. I am,  I thought it was quite clear. So how many sparks (or domestic installers) have their apprentice/trainee install a system then carry out I&T on it.  This sort of job is a no-brainer and whilst not paying the mortgage could mean the difference between going ahht, and going ahht, ahht on a Sat night.  Probably not something one would travel 30 miles to do, but if its around the corner..?

So what would you charge to take responsibility for the install?

If you have an apprentice or trainee do the work, you would be covered by your insurance. If you signed off somebody else's work, would they pay if it went Pete Tong?

How do we know anything about this installation????

No one has asked about the earthing type, earthing conductor, bonding conductors, OCPD,  RCD protection, installation methods, maximum demand, cable sizes (apart from them being 10mm wide), cable type, circuit configuration

As you know @Apache there's a lot more to this job than just bunging some cables and accessories in
