How do i find the rms value of a sinusoidal waveform?

I know RMS is equivalent to 0.707. But thats all I know I know at the minute. Just trying to get some last minute revision in!

Well the voltage reading on just about all volt meters IS the RMS value.

A harder question would be how to find the peak value, which is 1.414 times the RMS value.

Just about the only instrument that gives an easier reading of peak value, rather than RMS value is an oscilloscope.

ProDave,

Quite a few logging types of test equipment will give direct crest values, (peak) voltage and current, along with many other values that are not normally seen on regular test kit.

Cheers for the advice guys. Didnt even come across a rms question on the exam. Passed though anyway! Thanks again.
