Hi, I have a Kangoo van and was wandering if any of you guy's out there have any experience with a 3 Meter pipe carrier on a small van roof rack. If so has it proved stable at higher speeds?

Cheers

when i used my astra i had a 3mtr 110mm soil pipe. only problem was you couldnt open bonnet enough for stick to hold it but if it has a higher roof then you should be OK

hi m8

i had a kangoo 53 plate with 3mtr pipe on top and never had any problems in fact one very very windy day the pipe actually saved my life.

i was driving down dual carriage way with a large window company van in front when his triple extending ladders flew from the roof of his van and headed for me like a arrow rather than coming through the windscreen and taking my head off they hit the pipe instead.

they did bend the pipe down and smash the windscreen, dent bonnet etc but hey i,m still here.

I've had them on top of a couple of Partners and as mentioned above, the extra height of the roof allows the bonnet to open fine. I've never found them a problem, and used to do some serious mileage up and down the M1 at speed with a 4" galv one on (and on occasions huge triple extension ladders). :)

Only thing you may notice is a bit of wind noise and a slight reduction in MPG. Also, depending what engine you've got, it may cause enough drag to feel a difference, I drove a Kangoo once, it was useless, would have swapped it for a wheelbarrow if I'd have to keep it.

i have a van guard one on my combo and i have no probs with it..... only problem with the vanguard one is that when i put trunking/ conduit in it and its been in there a week or so it comes out really dirty, i dont know if this is the same with all van tubes.

Thanks guys and yes the Renault is a bit slow but I like it, kinda friendly little van.

The point about dirt ingress into carrier, I will need to look into that.

I hope I never have to catch ladders on mine.

Cheers

The metal ones will always make everything in them dirty. It's science.

I had a kangoo for a short while and I think I managed to get a 3m length of gutter inside the van fixed to the roof, only good for plastic trunk and conduit tho as fixings not too strong.

I have a Kangoo and usually manage ok without a tube.

You can get 3m lengths of plastic conduit, oval or trunking over the seat and down into the foot well and still close the rear door.

Had to cut a length of threadded bar today to get it to fit though:(
