It does, but I think your referring to a hob or the like being fitted from a cooker control unit

 
How about a pull cord next to the consumer unit with a series of pullies hooks and wheels to enable the other end to be reached from the shower. No need for Part P either as the works not in a special location.

Thinking about it, how about 'connecting' every switch in the house in a similar way with a row of pull cord switches bolted directly to the consumer unit. Think about the cable cost savings.
