Hi,

Anyone come across one of these?

I'm only familar with the Horstmann series of telemeters, and I can't find any information on these Siemen's models at all. I've a customer who wanted to reinstate their disconnected storage heaters, but when I came to look at the installation there are two meters, one old dial meter supplying peak and this seperate Siemens telemeter supplying off-peak. I'm not sure if this Siemens meter does dual tarrif or not because the display does not seem to light up even with energised tails to it. I think there are 6 terminals (or 5, can't remember).

Currently it has L+N in, then there are two L's currently out to a dual fused isolator. It was a very brief look today, so wasn't thorough in my investigation, but at least one L output was active at 10am this morning. I'm not sure if it has two switched outputs, one for an immersion and one for storage heaters, so they'll perhaps be different switching times, or perhaps one output is permanent 24 hour and one off-peak.

Either way, there is no display and no lights, it appears dead, though at least one output is active.

I've tried pressing the button to no avail. So either the meter isa faulty or perhaps the meter needs power removing and reapplying to it, I've not had chance.

Anyone familiar with these meters, they seem rare!

like all off-peak meters it will have a permanent supply for the clock, but 'out of hours' it will probably appear to be dead.  If the dual tariff has been done away with previously, then the customer needs to contact their energy supplier to get a dual tariff, it maybe the meter has been decommissioned? Given you still have a wheal type meter due for replacement, a new dual tariff meter is probably the best way forward, possibley a smart meter - these will have the functions to take advantage of off-peak energy times during the day as well as at night.

I would suggest it is switched by ...as it says on the tin.....  radio telemetry  and its shut down .   You would have to go through the energy supplier anyway.

Siemens were way in front with this meter ,    pre- smart arse  meters   ,as now we have to shove another piece of kit in as isolator  they were already fitting them in  their meters  , see photo .

If you have a radio telemeter (which is a dual rate meter) AND another single rate meter, then you probably have a "Total Control" supply, which is a complicated thing that I think only SSE ever did.  It gives you basically a normal off peak E10 like system plus another 24/7 supply metered at a cheaper rate for "heating appliances"

But in any event it is not up to YOU to work out why the meter does not seem to work. The meter belongs to the supplier or DNO and you should not be messing with it.  If it does not work report the fault to your energy supplier who will come and fix their meter for free.

It could be that you are no longer on the THTC supply (have a look and see what your electricity bill says) and it has been switched to a normal single rate supply and nobody bothered to remove the radio teleswitch, they just disabled it?

Except up here they never bother to seal the output terminals, so you don'e need Amellie to visit for a CU change.
