I have to agree with Specs , what he says is also part of the problem in this country . I too come across loads of white, English, benefit culture types and their kids are of the same ilk . Theres also a thing with middle class white , English kids who don't want to do the Electrical, plumbing , etc type work . Just want to sit on their asses at a computer .
Theres a white area near me ( other colours are "discouraged" from moving in) which I remember as mostly decent people , working class, all with jobs.
Now its still 99% white , but they're nicking cars , theres cars with no wheels here and there, schoolkids lurking around the streets on schooldays , drug dealing is rife, all day long theres people outside the pubs , smoking & drinking , education standards are poor , many are "known" to the police.
OK I suppose the Devil makes work for idle hands , but thinking back , I grew up in a fairly poor area , near Aston Villa , but we had manners, we didn't nick stuff , (well some did) I did a paper round at 13 and cleaned the cars on a sales pitch on Saturdays, left school at 15 .
I now come across kids still in full time education , at an age when I'd done a 6 yr apprenticship , in industry and contracting in construction .
Thing is, back then , I never heard of anyone on benefits and the dole was something you saw in old b&w films . I too don't know the answer ...don't quite know where it all went wrong ............but wrong it certainly went . From being bankrupt at the end of WW2 to the boom times of the '60s .. and now a third world country....................Great it 'aint .
