Hello everyone.

I have not got any sparking work on this week but also work at Oldham College.

College is shut so I will spend the day piddling round on the computer.

I note that the global warming screamers are very quiet this past few weeks:coat

See ya;)

Oldham? My hometown!

Not lived there for 27 years or so but still home!

This is the first time I have been snowed in, I have managed all winter when some near me have failed, but with at least 3 inches of ice under fresh snow, I decided to take the day off.

I have already had to help one driver get free this morning that was around 07:00hrs, just did not fancy having to dig myself out of anything.

A small amount here in Cornwall,

Enough to close all the local schools.

A day off aswell, Drive a little suzuki super carry and cant even get it off the drive way. RWD and wheels as thin as a pizza.....

Macca

Ah well

Catch up on some paperwork.

Just tried moving the car and no chance. Won't even move out of the parking spot!

Almost 10 inches here in Glossop.

Just made a brew and put me feet up.

mmmm

makes me think about a subaru....

i have never driven a 4wd car, do they really, really work? ....if it is snowing and icy i would imagine having 4 wheels spinning instead of the normal 2, if you know what i mean:)

i have an old jaguar with huge tyres, i think they are even worse than little thin tyres like a previous posters van....maybe it is my imagination or it maybe trying to get the 300 horse power down:x

4wd still isnt guaranteed to get you moving on compacted ice, snows ok though. Fancy a landrover defender myself.

Just up the road from me then. ROTFWL

Its coming down heavy here now for the last hour- we are doomed:_|

The old boy next door just set out in his Range Rover with no probs. Everyone one else struggling like ****!

ive never had a problem with the snow yet. its not really that bad here, but people are still moaning

on some of the non-gritted roads i often see people spinning wheels because there too stupid and put too much power into moving...

Yep no problems with mine either. Heard a car wheel spinning round the corner for about 30 seconds trying to get up the hill and must have eventually found grip. When it came round the corner it was a cop car.

Ian.

I'm typing this at work having got here in a Freelander! :D

Hardly any work on mind!

We've had ~6 inches in Yorkshire
My mum has a freeloader too and she tried to reverse up my drive the other week after I had and she just stood still all wheels spinning. Very funny. She gave up and parked in the road. Its not just about the car, its also about how you drive it too.

Ian.

Very true. I have mud and snow tires on mine which really helps.

WHAT! Snow chains?

IF you can drive properly in snow; which is the exact opposite (in some ways) from rain, you shouldn`t have too much problem. As `pache says, snow tyres can help ("town & country" were the boys - can you still get `em???)

I did South wales to Stockport, to Bradford, to Whitby, Back to Bradford & back to South Wales, without losing grip on ANY tires, at ANY time (and some of the lanes I had to use near Whitby were 1 in 3!!!)

Mind, I did slide around a corner yesterday in the van - the front wheels kept some traction, and the back end tried to overtake me............

Minor correction, and all`s well though.

Helps if you have a touch like a midwife............

Oh, And the worst of the snow in South Wales is after Midnight, Tonight. :D
