the 16mm T&E is to a shower consumer unit

I would say that the incoming tails were 10mm ???

there 16. and so is the outgoing to shower CU. although it does only have 2 strands. and the screw isnt tight

There is a 6mm

very common.

10mm + doesnt fit into them MCB's very well, so most 40 + 45 have the adapters

shower CU below had its own RCD, so no issue there. instead of splitting the tails properly, they bodged 2x 16mm tails into the top of the RCD

Surely if some one has gone to the trouble of putting a shower C/U in then a few quid more on a bigger henley block

wouldn't have taken that much effort.

Unless he did it live and not isolate the oiginal C/U:shakehead

Are the neutrals actually in a terminal in the RCD can't see the screw is that a burn mark on top?

its a bit of plastic - no idea where it came from, but it wasnt part of the RCD

If there's a seperate CU for the shower, why not split the tails with, erm let me think, erm , ah yes, Henley blocks.
