spotlight lighting help

Hey all, after a bit of help after no help from maplins, b&q etc.

I've just purchased 2 display cabinets that have a spotlight in each of them, however one of the plugs is missing that the wiring goes into, I've tried all the places I can think of and have looked all over the net but can not find anything. The connection is as in the picture a blade and a pin, i have only seen this once before on my la-z-boy sofa for the electric recliner.

What I need is either another plug which will do the same job as the one I already have or an adapter of some sorts to make 2 connections from the 1 currently available on the plug I have.

Please see pics below for picture of connector and plug I am talking about.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it is the name of the connection! That would at least be a start.

Thats a standard din plug used on cheap stereos for the speakers

Whatever happened to the older Bulgin plug and socket?

Looked for them but can I find them?

Have had to convert some of my kit to accommodate the

newer designs.

No Andy...It is a much earlier design in Bakelite or similar

thermosetting plastic. Nice try though.

The only Bulgin plugs i ever used were these Bulgin Plug - 2 x Bulgin Socket - 30cm only

Do you mean those old Bulgin round bakerlite , 3 pin plugs and sockets, that were commonly used as mains input connectors before things like the IEC plug were invented.

I remember our old School disco setup. Used the 3 pin Bulgins for mains input, and 2 pin Bulgin's for speaker output. If ever there was an accident waiting to happen.....

If you really want some, I think I may have some in the workshop somewhere.

The plug was almost cylindrical, the socket had a

flange and the socket connections were on the end

of the cylinder.

The plug had a strain relief inside when it clamped on

the terminated conductors.

I understand they came in two sizes.

I've just had a look.

What I have is 2 of the 3 pin in line sockets (plugs?), the smaller "5 amp" version. As far as I know, unused. They have a 13A plug type cord grip. The cover is held on by two screws, that are inaccessible when it's plugged into it's mating fixed plug.

If you want them, they are yours for the cost of postage.

IIRC the ones on the school disco kit were the larger version, and again IIRC the cover on those just screwed on, and could, if feeling stupid, be removed when it was plugged in and live.

Yes that sounds like the one; Maybe they were withdrawn as

a design for that reason.

I am re-furbing a 1970's Hi Fi amplifier and it uses these Bulgin

sockets and plugs. I think they are OK but fitting anything else

will be a little difficult because of the space available on the back

of the case.

picture 2 sidewinder looks like one of them plug in transformer thingies.
