If I need a 3A spur and take it from a light, can I just fix the spur to a joist keeping it under the floorboards?

The Fused spur will have to be accessible. Butt it up to the ceiling?

could you not take the spur to a cupboard for your fcu then back to the item ?????

One of those large 4 bladed things to circulate the air on the ceiling in a living room

Just a fan, if it had a light I could just continue the loop couldn't I ?

Do the instructions mention a 3A fused spur? The fan wont use much more than a standard 100W lamp. Dont think i'd bother with the fused spur.

now we have all the info

i wouldnt bother either

MWC stating fan installed on lighting cct

jobs a good'n

I wouldn't bother either.

It's a simple fan, fed from a circuit protected by a 6A MCB. It will be fine.

Probably the only reason the manufacturer states a 3A fuse, is if you were feeding it via a ring main from a FCU, where a 3A fuse would be appropriate.

Sometimes taking the manufacturers instructions too literally can lead to all sorts of complications.
