evening all,

fitted som night stores about 7 months ago, call from customer that its not working, they phoned dimplex but failed to come out twice, so i poped round, he said the heater was hot on 1 side, warm in the middle and cold the other side. i took the cover off, took the bricks out to find the element broke, it looked like the coating had melted off. i have pix and will upload once i have BB sorted out

has anyone seen this happen? and why?

thanks

I posted last year about a newlec storage heater. It had all four elements blown apart. Now I think these are the same elements as in Dimplex and they are made by Dimplex if my memory serves me correctly. No reason for it ie being covered it maybe they had a faulty batch of elements.

The Doctor suggests a possible cause in Andy's excellent storage heater thread

Check if Ec 7 time switch is stuck on low rate

Have found elements burnt out because of constant supply over a period of time.

If not then just probably from a bad batch of elements

While we are on to storage heaters has any one had problems with burnt out thermal cut-outs in Creda TSR 24 AW 79361\S Heaters around a year to 2 years old?

It seems they tried a small disc shape resettable cut-out in series with a non resettlabale type and have found both burnt out on several heaters of that age. I see they now fit a different type in the newer range but can't get them to admit there was a problem. All are out of Guarantee now of course.
