I recently ordered some new trainers from a company called uktrainerstore.

I am a keen runner and need some new shoes fairly soon as mine are worn out. Goofled the ones I wanted "Asics Nimbus Gel 14" and did the usual - ie look for the cheapest. Found a pair for £50 plus postage and thought it was cheap. That was almost a week ago. would have thought they would be here by now.

Don't forget the company is called UK Trainer store

Just had a tracking number and the said trainers are in China at the moment!

1     Are they likely to be dodgy - ie fake?

2     Will I have to wait a long time to get them?

3     Can I cancel cos I don't like the look of this?

Bought the boy a 12V go cart here in the UK when he was a nipper. (Well, the wife did as I was taking so long to build his electric jeep). Went wrong so I tracked down the Chinese maker. They sent me, FOC, all the way from China a huge box with a complete front end of the cart and a letter of apology. Bought him a DS Lite from Hong Kong when you couldn't get them for love nor money. Still going strong after what, 8 years? MP4 player that died got a no quibble refund.

Did by some casual CAT boots a while back off eBay stamped Made In India when I got them - fell apart after 6 months. Trader did tbh ask me to send them back but pretty sure they were fakes.

Most items I've bought from China take around 2 weeks for delivery.

My son is living in China and says you can buy well known brand trainers without the logo for a fraction of the price, everything else about them is the same.

Seems the logo is everything .

Seen the price of "Designer Handbags " ?

And don't start me on the perfume rip off ,  take it ot of the box and its half the size you thought it was , remove the elongated stopper and its shrunk again.    At the retail price some of them must be £1000.00 per gallon .

if they say the item is in UK then send it from china, i usually leave negative feedback for it / waiting longer for it. but then im impatient and want everything the next day

different if it says its in china though

but either way, just about everything comes from there anyway

Yes but I really like the Asics ones and they offer very good cushioning and work really well so those are what I use. Done 4 half marathons in them but they are rather worn out now.
Since the demise of Silver Shadows, they have become my trainer of choice cos I'm fed up of paying big money to companies using foreign sweat shop labour. My current pair are about to collpase after 3 years ( I don't jog) so have lasted well.

Probably done 700 miles in last 18 months in mine so well overdue for new ones

Was debating taking a chance on one of the cheapo smartphone clones...............not sure if I'd get stung by customs here though?

Depends what value they put on the label, when shipping, when its under a set value, I think £30 they don't bother.

Some will put gift, others put like $10 regardless of what it is, you need to get agreement first.

New Balance are made in Lake District, don'tknow how good they are as running shoes, but love the ones I've got
Not quite Binky, they are made in a factory in a village called Flimby which is on the coast so about 15 miles off the boundary of the national park, the village is also fairly run down and deprived so it's the British equivalent to a third world sweat shop

I am having some hassle for the first time with some Chinese E Bay stuff. Spotted some RGB controllers with 2 ouputs, managed to get the last ones from 2 different sellers both in Hong Kong. When they arrived (4 days apart) 3 weeks later  both had come from the same shop/factory  but neither the details of either E Bay account. They had sent the normal 1 outputs. The problem is they dont understand English, probably  using Google translation and cant get what the problem is. Tonight i took some screenshots and drew arrows and circles round the pics for them.  Not that bothered as they were only £2.50e  inc postage.

Im confused,,,,

I know, its easy for me,,,,,

is it China or Hong Kong.?

yes, I know China controls Hong Kong now, but its almost like saying they control Macau, or the UK controls Jersey or Guernsey.

Pedants corner is over there to the left   :^O   :innocent  ......... When I visited Hong Kong under 2 years ago I had to apply for a Chinese visa  :C

Oh, and the pics I sent did the trick, 'our  buyer must have sent the wrong item'

The "Chinglish" (I'm bundling in all poor translations in that) in some of these manuals is sometimes annoying. Got a call from a guy about a Logik hob which he was wiring himself this week, Curry's own brand. It was the whole "must get it done for Christmas etc". Not sure on the hob's country of origin make be Turkey. I looked up the manual on the web:

Anyway, it clearly states for the wiring  "6000-6600W" then "230-240V".

A bit further down "3x6mm / 3x2.5" & also "H05VV-F".

The guy has been to Wickes and bought a length of 6mm T&E which is too big to get into the hob. "The same stuff as was on the old cooker and my Dad said it was cooker cable!".

I suggested he fit 4mm butyl and as he has a TLC local could have bought it by the metre.

He's now fitted 2.5mm H05VV-F "from work". Not even really meant for hobs IMO but it's as per manufacturers instructions!

Been through this before with cheapo hobs.

Just remembered I had a MP4 player from Hong Kong a while back. Went wrong and got a no quibble refund.

i got a pair of longsdales 2 yrs ago used them for work ever since in my old retail job and in construction (when i dont need steels on) paid £19 and they are as good as new quality wise and will last another yr :D

i once made the mistake of buying nike air max for £110 when i was training and they lasted 6months. i only used them for the gym and occasionally in the evenings.

I like Asics, I guess I'm used to them and reluctant to try anything else, usually get 12 months out of a pair due to fairly high mileages. I currently do about 35 miles per week.
