if adding a socket to a excisting circuit cable surface in yt2 would it need to be rcd protected

as i think it does but not sure this time of night no excisting rcd protection at mo if so i would use a rcd fcu if needed with a minor work cert as addition

thanks moose man

thanks andy as i thought been a dark room alll day with head lamp right head now

as it not dedicated going to have a look at cu tom but if i go with rcd socket new cablerun would not be protected

comeing from exsisting ring final so i worst id go with rcd spur i think

if new cable run is not chased in then no need for it to be rcd protected so rcd socket outlet may be you best option, a better option may be to rcd the whole circuit. circumstance will dictate of course

of course, even cable in trunking is not exempt from people putting things into it

Or wait until the 1st amendment comes into force, and minor works adding an extra socket to en exiting ring without RCD protection, won't need it to be added.

That's not what Elecsa said.

There was a debate about not having to rcd a spur, but it was scrapped so all sockets now need an rcd, I think it was stupid to even have a debate about it, they save lives end of.
