I know this is on Yahoo News but is this some kinda April fool? Submarine at the speed of sound (about 1 mile per second in seawater depending on depth)....I'm not buying it. 
True.........I think about 600 knots is more realistic:

Two issues.

If you make a navigation error at that speed, it's going to hurt when you hit something.

And submarines use sonar to detect objects. Remind me what the speed of sound through water is? And then tell me how you can use sonar to detect and avoid objects when you are travelling faster than the speed of sound.

All assuming it was physically possible in the first place.
