Switching power suppliers

Following the Npower  announcement  I had  a look at the compare site .    I'm on British Gas  & Npower . 

Are these offers for real or are  there hidden agendas .

I put my figures in and  Scottish Power can save £320  /year ......drops my combined energy  of £4.54  / day    by a £1 

Trouble is we don't know if and when the others will follow nPower .

A lot of the Scottish Power tariffs are non variable, the one I have with them I think is locked until May 18, even although you are in a locked tariffs with them you can still change to a cheaper tariff if one appears without penalty obviously as long as it is still with Scot Power. I check it about every 3 months to check I am on the cheapest tariff with them. If I am not couple of mouse clicks later I am.
