Well...

If you read the declaration bit that you sign ...

you will find it is your written declaration that your works comply with current regs and have been tested as safe!...

If you are going to be NIC inspected soon....

e.g.

http://www.talk.electricianforum.co.uk/electrician-talk-forum/21022-niciec.html

Then...

you should have copies of the certificates for the sample jobs you are showing and any for any previous works you may have done...

:C

AND....

If you are self employed you should be doing certificates for all your work anyway!!!!

Thanks Matty I thought as much just very confusing u get told different things of different people just want to do everything correctly.. Special location.. Im mainly just subbing at the mo for so any signing off is done through him but thanks

The advice does state that anyone competent can carry out EICs and as you have the relevant pieces of paper all should be ok. In my experience I would advise you allow at least half a day for your first few EICs, The new forms are quite comprehensive and really demand that you do not rush it. Hope it all goes well for you.

are you thinking of EICRs, with about 5000000000 tick boxes for the more intelligence challenged among us?

for me a half decent PIR has always taken near half a day anyway,

EICs are still only 3 pages, well, the domestic ones anyway.

Think the Op is talking about EIC "certificates" not EICR "reports"

NOTE:-

EIC Electrical Installation Certificate

as compared to....

EICR Electrical Installation Condition Report

{also it is still a Periodic inspection that is undertaken an reported on a EICR}

But think the OP's asking about signing off his own work on an EIC!

Guinness

;)
