Been doing my bathroom up and had 10,000 rubble bags filled with plaster and tiles, so empty my van, pile them in and head for the council tip.

At the entrance they now have The Refuse Police who eyes my van with great suspicion , "Whatcha yer got ,Mate? No trade waste allowed "

I know that I say , its my own waste. " We have Trading Standards on here yer know, from 1st Feb no vans without a permit , heres a form to fill in , then you are allowed only 6 visits per year" Takes my van reg . and demands my postcode then lets me in.

Form says no more transits , pick-ups, trailers , all waste to be sorted , boy are they tightening up !!!!

round here your allowed to fill the boot of a private vehicle. no back seats down. anything larger (& trailers) you need a permit. you can get 3 at a time (FOC) and go back for more as often as you want. or you can even get more than 3 at a time... just give a different reg...

supposed to stop 'trade' waste, yet there is always builders vans etc in there with stuff thats obviously trade waste

A bit slow around your way, I removed a cooker placed it on the pavement, I went back in the house and told two of my guys to load it in the back of the van, when they went outside it had gone, probably no more than 60 seconds, reminded me of the film by the same title.

We have had no vans and no trailers in our CA sites around here for about 5 years now!

No sign written vans since they opened, at all ever full stop!

The only way you can take stuff in from a van is if you park it outside and carry it in!

They will not allow anyone doing that in my area, tried it a few times I now have permits just makes life easier. I order a skip every couple of weeks delivered to the unit and do it that way now, a local joiner shares the skip which I have no objection to. I will catch him one day :)

I never take my van to the tip. As I still have a car, I take all my waste to the tip in that. Waste is very well segregated at our tip so my "trade" stuff goes in with my household stuff.

most of my rubbish is burned (if it will burn cleanly, without big clouds of black smoke). all batteries/lamps etc are all recycled. the rest goes in the bin

If it's "iffy", shove it in the wife's / husband's car instead, when they're (the spouse) not watching,of course.

Many a defunct CU has landed in the electrical recycling bin from the back of Madams motor. ; \

This thread is rubbish....

We had a big clearout at the church. Local recycling centre (not called tips anymore) wont allow a pick up/ van or trailer with 2 axles. I took my trailer on the back of the car and filled it as well as the boot and they accepted it no probs.

Some centres have a 'shop' where you can buys stuff - one mans rubbish another mans treasure and all that......

last time i went to mine you had to fill a form out if in a van and park in a bay and trolly your stuff to the correct bins. only allowed 2 small dustbins of rubble per day

When I lived in Essex, our tip had the same policy - two bags per day. Yet a letter in the local rag produced evidence that in the previous financial year, the county council had spent in excess of

As sidewinder - been like that in my local borough for several years.

They do do permits too though (unlike SW).

My better half takes small quantities (up to a rubble sack full) on her bike trailer. They know her by sight, and always greet her with a friendly "No Trailers allowed!" before they let her in.

Slight hijack to thread, sorry.

Scenario. Stuck for a fluorescent tube, bite bullet and go to Buy and Queue or Screwfix. Pay for tube which includes WEEE levy. will not accept old tube for Recyce. Go to tip in marked vehicle. won't let you in. I KNOW that you can put it in boot of car and take it to the tip but that is not my point, if you see what I am trying to get at. Reading that back to myself it does not really explain what I mean but I cannot think of a better way. basically you have paid to have it recycled but you cannot because of the vehicle you drivebad day :Explode

SF have a lcoal named recylcing place for each store. they must take your waste under WEEE, even if your in a marked vehicle (maybe take SF invoice with you as proof your entitled to take it there)

or if your in newcastle, contact weeco. they collect any waste electrical stuff FOC
