Hi Lads , I am after a 24/7 230v timer that will do timed segments of less than 1 min .. any ideas

What? you want the ON (or OFF) period to be less than 1 minute??

I've never come across anything that can do this apart from a PLC....

whats the application?? someone might have an alternative idea

most timers only work by minutes, and usually have a max of 3/4 on/off per day

PLC may be the only option depending on what you need it to do

Hi Noz , its for a sounder in a factory to tell the lads when break is over , home time etc , they have the sounder and asked me if there was anyway to link a timer to it, but the sounder going off for 1 minute will be to long ........

Contactor with off delay timer, like a Y/D starter?

Push button or other impulse to start, timer times out and turns off?

Probably needs a bit of refinement before implementation?

Once activated you can change it to almost any time

PLC would probably be the best way to go

or you can use another timer which will only output for a few seconds. ive done this a while back to a door sounder. DIY PCB kit, but only takes 5 mins to solder

I've just had a look for DIN mounted delay timers and found this...

On delay timer relay H3CR din 12v 24V

If configured the right way you could use a normal digital 24hr timer to trigger it (off delay)

Thinking about this, you could probably do this with a combination of the above or perhaps even something like a Siemens Logo device.

Beauty of PLC/Logo is built in RTC.

Standard 240v timer i.e. digital with minimum 1min switching period, feeding one of these :

FINDER|80.41.0.240.0000|OFF DELAY TIMER, SIGNAL | Farnell United Kingdom

The output of the first timer will trigger the second - which will reset i.e. when the first timer output goes to zero.

I have used the siemens logo to replace 6 timers that were forever being damaged by Mr nobody.

The logo unit was cheaper than 6 timers

Hi, sounds like you need what we call a class change sounder.

I've never fitted one yet but my mentor didthe one in the school we're working in. sounds bells around school at pre-set times.

There are numerous manufactures of time & attendance control systems including bell sounders etc..

Something like this probably quicker than building a bespoke timer..

no need to re-invent the wheel as they say...
