I would say its fed from the top unlabelled CU. Maybe a cooker supply now with a shower piggybacked onto it. If so then he could argue that all he has failed to provide is RCD protection. It's a very poor install but I do not like to judge untill both sides of the story has been heard. Perhaps the bloke has been succesfull at passing his assesment after help from forums like these after a few days training and now is struggling in the real world. Perhaps he is a bad employee. Have to wait and see what the diagnosis is tomorrow I guess.

WHERE IS THE SHOWER FED FROM!!!!

I wanna know????? :_| :_| :_|
Your wait is over !!!!

The wall behind the shower is part of an airing cupboard, so what he did was to take a spur from a single 13amp socket, he ran the cable (2.5mm t&e)in yt2 up the wall and then through the wall into the back of the shower. Its to small in the airing cupboard to take a photo so have just taken the spur out of socket but will leave the yt2 and wire in place so anybody from NIC can see the work, if needed.

Forgot to say no sleeving on cpc in both spur and shower.

Have left the customer to contact NIC but have told her I will help her in anyway I can.

She has been told not to take the legal route, as he never cashed her cheque it would be hard to take any action. headbang So lets just hope NIC will take him off the list and deal with it.

Unbelievable.

So you are saying he fed a 7.5KW shower from a spur from a 13A socket.

Was that via an FCU or direct into the back of the socket?

Did he fit an isolator switch.?

Yeee hah, ride em cowboy.

Yes that's right.

Direct from the socket.

No switch, from the socket to shower.

Bit of a cowboy, and sadly still out there working no doubt.

It makes you wonder how many other incorrectly wired circuits are out there that this contractor has worked on? very worrying.

Doc H.

Nope he's on the NIC list of approved contractors. (But hopefully not for long)

I cannot wait, this is much better than lost!!

Except there may be an ending to this.

Put some photo's on here, I don't care what of, anything will do.

So 7.5 kw on a ring fed by 2.5mm T&E, This is so exciting, I hope Hollywood makes a film.

Makes you wonder if he's hijacked a genuine ID. I've seen shoddy work, but never anything as clearly crap as this from a registered contrator. And as for not contacting NIC cos he returned the money, stuff that cos if he is registered the NIC will certailny want to know.

I discussed a certain local contractor during my last assessment - the procedure has changed whereby previously the customer had to invite said contractor to make good shoddy work, now the NIC has realised theat customers don't ant idiots back in the house, so its contact NIC straight away :red card :red card

Never mind..... its good news for gardeners!!!!! ; \

If you can just work out a Sat-Nav route that goes past the customer and the contractors addresses,

(no need to give away precise address, Data Protection;) O) )

PM it to Admin to put on the downloads section....

Then we can all go up and get loads of horse manure to put on the vegetable patch!

Should be loads of horse pooh up around "Captain Cowboys" home! :) :p

looks like me Tomatoes, Runner Beans, Lettuce, Radishes, Potato's etc.. are in for a good year!

:) :D ] :)

Some of the bodgiest things I have seen were from a NIC approved contractor. Not even registered for Part P but carried on doing domestic. CU changes, no main bonding in sight.
