Been signed up for a property maintenance company since just after Xmas only half past 4 get a call from one of there staff can you make it to a job tomorrow in Leeds a elderly woman's power is off no lights any thing I said yes go on then so I get a text with the clients address and phone number I give her a ring asking wot time Is best for her tomorrow. She said tomorrow I can't wait that long so after a little talk I agree to go have a look tonight. I ring the property company Up and say I'll call tonight but won't be able to get materials as its after 5 she says ok go tonight just don't go over the agreed price on the text message

Which was

I had to replace one very similar to that recently. My wholesaler got hold of one but it was expensive.

How much was it if u don't mind me asking its got to be cheaper to replace was it an easy swap over ?

Reckon eon would replace the board under breakdown cover but would insist on bonding being upgraded at a cost.

The bonding is fine looks rather new all done surface clipped the twin and earth is a silvery colour though it has earths in even the lighting cables not seen this twin before all the switches are prehistoric though can see a few things being discovered upon testing the socket circuit looks to be a 4mm radial from the board but bet theres 2.5

Throughout the circuit

The cores were like flex stranded and looked tinned silvery any one know what it is the outer sheath was PVC and looked in rather good condition at the db end. I didn't like the way the woman from the property company said make sure your done within the limit price electrics isn't something you can rush and tbh I don't think they would of cared if I'd of walked away without getting some power on For the elderly woman cos of it of been upto them she would be still sat there now waiting

Sounds like imperial cable. Know you were pushed for time but did you meg it out? Could be a neutral fault causing rcd to not reset. Typical callout job can of worms. Also did it reset with all the neutrals removed from the bar?

Was thinking that on way home gonna put on my quote that more work may be required after testing she said it tripped when she turned light on I turned switch off tried turning back on but no joy. In hinesight I should of took all neutrals out and tried it but you live and learn

just come back from my call out. Bottle of Merlot was there ready to be poured, just cutting a slice of french bread to go with it and the phone rang. No hydraulics on one of the ferry berths and there was a ship stuck on it.... pumps would not start, a bit of running around and eventually found the culprit - a 6A control fuse. Replaced and up and running, ship sailed, happy days or nights ;) ) But still not able to start pumps from scada screen..... could have left it and instructed ops to run on manual - found another control fuse, and an alarm which needed re setting and I'm back to my Merlot and bread and cheese..........

Rcd's have been around for a long time have seen some pretty old 500mA ones although in my area the voltage operated trips are more popular.
