As the title suggests - I wondered if anyone has fitted a pull-cord dimmer switch into a bathroom with a timer fan in circuit ? Does it work?

Update: Bought an Eterna pull-cord dimmer switch; fitted it at home as a test - works fine with my Xpelair LoVolt timer fan. Cheers to all who replied.

Further update: Dimmer is now knackered - 48 hours of minimal use with the timer fan has killed it!

It should do lilman, there are fans designed and built with this in mind.AndyGuinness
I am worried that the switched live from the dimmer might be unsuitable/unreliable to start the fan. The permanent live won't be a problem. Also I have heard that sometimes the dimmer leaks a small current and so the fan will not shut off. What do you reckon?

I have fitted the cord dimmers but never with a fan but they blurb that came with it said it was suitable for a fan.

Sounds promising - think I might get one and stick it in at home and see what it's like.

And by gum its keeps me busy! :(running here there and everywhere telling fans to switch on! :|

Oh sod... gotta go again...

Mrs G down at No45 has just gone to use the bathroom fan...

and Mr R over at No5 is going for his morning constitutional in the downstairs loo... most definitely needs the fan for that one! :p

i think i got the quote wrong. SL does all the work, running round in that wheel to make the fan spin

Well I have learnt something today may well come in handy one day. Personally I like to see what I am doing in the bathroom but each to there own.

:D
