Anyone had this ? 1.8 petrol z18xe  cold start  ... fires up fine idles very rough no power on accelerator, after 5 mins runs reasonably but loses power under load seems to get worse going uphill ,coil pack changed no better , thinking fuel ? any ideas ?

if you had an old engine with a carb I would say that was possibly an air leak from split hose - fuel too lean a mixture hence rough running and no power. Not sure it would apply to fuel injected engines as these days its more likely to be a stupid sensor on the engine.

oxygen sensor ?

same syptoms on my Jag

doing 60 miles an hour on an A road and lost all revs...

Had exactly the same on Mrs PD's VW golf some years ago, that was single point injection.

It turned out to be a broken wire feeding the injector. Under power, the slight movement of the engine on its mounts worsened the poor connection.

The fault was only found after it eventually failed completely.

i get it with my astra if i use normal petrol probably gunk in the tank i remidied it with some redex and i use preformance petrol sound silly but it worked for me. to the point if im low and stick a £10 of regular petrol in it starts playing up again. it fist happened a year and half ago and i put normal petrol in a month ago and still the same so this fix def worked for me im thinking injectors must block easy or underpreform if they get a little gunk. iv got a 1.6sxi engine
