A decorator I know is doing up a house for his daughter & her boyfriend .

Its a quite small semi , empty, no carpets, decorator is doing the chasing and plastering and chopping the boxes in ( Don't know why, didn't ask !!) .

Its very basic :-

9 lights

20 sockets

cooker supply

new c/u

Bonding

5 mtrs SWA to position for shed ,not connected .

Doesn't want any extract fans or smoke detectors

2 sparks , 4 days

Cash job

No Andy, I know this guy , it will be install wiring, no chasing will be done , so go away . Return when hes done it, fix boxes and sheathing and go away.Return when he,s plastered up and 2nd fix except that he won't have moved the water main by then so return yet again to connect bonding.

Only the fact that its local makes it viable TBH.
makes more sense. for 4 days labour, it does sound like he is getting a good deal

push over sparks again deke. its so specific to us and blatant too.

i found a sheet in a pubs office for calling out trades for emergencies/repairs

every trade was on there brickies, chippys, slot machine, kitchen appliance, gardening, painting. sparks had the lowest call out and hourly rate charge. i dispair at this alot

I hate decorators some cover your new sockerts and switches with paint. Had one on a job that caulked socket and shorted circuit out which took time to find. Always the way other trades think you should work for nothing but you have got to earn a living otherwise you may as well go on the dole.

Hi Nobed , I have learnt over the years not get involved , he,s the customer, he,s paying me, he doesn't want kitchen extract, shower room extract,or smoke detectors although I advised him . So he gets what he,s paying for.

I'd doubt very much he will go through building regs. Again not my problem.

I have an interesting comparison, a job I am involved in at the moment required the ceiling to be boarded and skimmed, the cost to the customer was

This is what really pi...es me off about our trade I am really sereously considering going into something that does not require certificating, less paperwork and probably more profit.
