They were serving that in the childrens school lastweek, my son(8yr old) was so embarrassed to ask for it that he opted for the icecream instead, he knows it as a swear word.

Its a stupid name for a cake anyway, whoever thought it up must have had one hellova sense of humour :)

It is NOT political correctness.

It is a council run canteen who's staff had no sense of humour and were fed up of "Imature" customers making fun of it, and they took it upon theirselves to rename it to "Spotted Richard".

;)

So we won't be calling chocolate sponge pudding Richard the turd then? :) :D

Well theres another one , Irish Stew, is that Republic of Ireland Stew or Ulster Stew ? Not wanting to be non PC, should it be Euro Stew.?
Maybe orange or green stew would be better.

There was a thing in the past that the true makers of Cornish Pasties were up in arms as there was a company that was making 'Cornish Pasties' BUT Not in Cornwall or its surounding area.

Same thing happened with Melton Mowbray & pork pies.

I find the title of this thread misleading !-- it is'nt just the Welsh 'powers-that-be' that do silly stuff like this but like minded people all across the UK, for example piggy banks being banned by the Brittannia Building Society in favour of froggy banks in order to avoid offending muslims. 'Political Correctness' alone would have sufficed.

Birmingham City Council doesn't like offending Muslims, I am waiting to see if this years festive lights ( or Wintermass lights) avoid any pictorial reference to anything connected with the religious celebration some people ( but not all) celebrate on the 25th December, as I noticed last year.

The lights will have many stars, moons, sunburst type things, sqiggles etc. Not to be seen will be mangers, Marys, donkeys, Wise men travelling from afar or anear, shepherds washing their socks by night, and not a glimpse of you know who.

The home of PC even puts eastern style lamposts in certain areas . :(
