For me in no particular order

earning money

the pub with mates

meals out

the occasional round of golf

realising our summer holiday is now a pipe dream

You guys?

The ability to buy building materials to carry on building my house.  Even though they have not been ordered to and builders merchants could have remained open, ALL of them round here are shut.

I am short of money and burning savings as our tenant is on a rent holiday until she works out what benefits she is going to get and we agree a temporary lower rent for the period.

And of course I am missing SAILING. I really think that should be included as allowable exercise.  But presently there is no legal way to travel the 20 miles to get there (I suppose I could cycle and call that exercise)

Being able to go shopping on the spur of the moment, as in "I fancy a fish for tea", or I need a piece of wood, can of paint, or a plant for the garden.

My son dropping in two or three times a week.

Going away in my caravan, and missing a planned trip to family in France. (Though actually seeing more of them than usual  as we now have a weekly family meet on Zoom)

BUT I also appreciate how fortunate we are. I'm retired with a decent size garden to work in and a garage workshop.

Me & Mrs both have our hobbies and have managed not to fall out, and we've mastered click and collect shopping at nearby Asda and Tesco.

I can't help thinking of those stuck in a flat, perhaps with kids, and the poor flood victims who were so much in the news just before all this chaos broke loose. They are presumably still stuck in a Travel Lodge room and living on pizza.

Visiting two elderly parents, (86 & 91) in local care home... (locked down since before Mothers Day)

Visiting or visits by youngest son who lives in Portsmouth...

Visiting or visits by eldest son & daughter-in-law who live Worcester...

Visiting or visits by eldest daughter & son-in law who live in Sheffield …  AND their new baby first child, (our first grandchild) born on 11 April...

[ we are approx. 14 miles from Birmingham on the opposite side from Deke-Towers where our esteemed forum Tech-Support and electrical oracle lives ]

Visiting or visits by widowed mother-in-law, sister-in-law & other members of wife's side of family...

Visiting or visits by older brother and younger sister and their families...

Meeting, going out, general socialising with other friends...

Basically just socialising with friends and family including celebrating birthdays..   :( :Y Guinness :(

The other inconveniences around shopping etc.. you can make-do and cope with..

(On a few occasions once you are actually inside a shop, assuming they have what you want, the actual shopping & paying can be a bit quicker & easier as there are less people in your way.)

As Geoff said we are also relatively fortunate, i.e. we have a house with garden, drive & garage so sufficient room for doing all those pending odd jobs around home...

And approx. 10mins walk up the road you are in a bit of country side with farmers fields, golf course etc with plenty of footpaths/bridleways you can get a bit of exercise in a nice environment..

[ NOT stuck in a high-rise in the middle of a city with minimal green-space ]

I have done a few jobs since the lock-down started...

Mutual agreement with customer around social distancing etc.

and getting a signed risks assessment confirming no known knowledge of any Coronavirus symptoms and if any do occur after the work visit, both parties will let the other know.

The only other pain-in-the-butt is finding that somewhere you want to fetch something from has changed their opening hours!

Went to go to the local pet shop at 4:15 today, to find they are now closing at 4:00pm!!

Guinness
