and when I removed it from the wall it fell apart!

Oh, and I know that it's a cast iron head.. will be advising my customer to request a replacement!

 
well i did only do it as a temporray joint you know :^O im surprised it lasted that long! please stop taking photos of my repair jobs :^O :^O :coat

in all seriousness though thats a dreadful connection,id have at least used some insulation tape :^O

 
Let me know how your customer gets on getting a replacement for that cast head. I did a CU change 9 months ago for a client who had one the same and we rang up about it because it had leaked all it's bitumen out (so we assume it's getting warm sometimes). Still not been done.

 
Thats shocking ! How the hell can that be a safe connection ?

I was called to a house where the lights intermittently flickered, I traced the fault back to the neutral tail in the cu, it was loose, and that was a proper clamp type connection that had become loose.
