i use a megger 1552. same as many others on here. and then others use fluke. or metrel. or others.

and since your asking 'what are the minimum required tests', are you competent to do this? (and how can you be a member of ECA without a test kit?)

i use megger 1552 also,

its a good pice of kit and you can pick one up for under

Hello Buddha. On your second question. If you care to give a list of the Tests you think are required then help will follow :)

AVO CM500 "all in one" for me, the dial is even set up as a mind jogger on the sequence of tests

thanks mate i will get my cock-eyed list together and see if you can help,i will put it on this thread and maybe pm you it.the megger 1552 seems to be the most popular with you guys, where is the best place to buy one,the megger in screwfix is 970 quid!!

I got mine from there think it was 575 plus I got long lead at same time too which they do cheaper if you buy both. Cheers

Hi Buddah,

We sell more MFT1552 than any other tester on the site, we rarely have any problems and if we do Megger are good at sorting it out.

Having said that the Fluke 1652B is a good tester although if it goes wrong Fluke can be tricky to deal with.

Megger is made in the UK and the Fluke is assembled here, i have put links below for you. :)

if your useing the 1552 on your course then i would buy one, olci use 1552, they are a good tester and i got mine from isswww with the lead. about

i use a fluke 1652, its really good. not used the 1552 but heard its great too.

Personally i think its worth spending the little bit extra on a tester, its something you should hope to have for a while, and its important to get accurate readings.

Ive used a few cheaper testers, some of them not so great!

Nothing at all wrong with that...So long as they know what to do if you do get a shock, whack you with a big stick if you're connected, then all's ok!!
dont start cpr untill i have been disconnected from the mains:pray:good luck: :good night:

How do you find the low current loop tests?
The low loop tests can be quite predictable Batty as I believe the meter calculates the readings somehow based on a 230 or 240 volt supply!

Not quite sure how this works but many years ago I remember speaking with AVO Tech department and getting this as an answer along with some other waffle as the readings always seemed to be around the 0.2Ω on the 15mA test no matter where I was testing!
