Hi,
I have purchased some ceiling lights from Dunelm called Erin which state on the website they take G9 Bulbs Maximum wattage is 5W. After purchasing them it say’s on the box the Maximum wattage is 4W. I did a search on Google to find out if it’s ok to fit 5w LED bulbs when its says 4w and I get conflicting answers saying yes it’s ok and others say no. I would like to get the maximum light out of them as I’m replacing a single light which has a 100w bulb so have been looking at purchasing daylight bulbs but not sure if I should buy 4 or 5w. Be grateful if someone could advise me.

Thank you.

The problem with LED's is the wattage in a lot of cases doesn't reflect on how bright the lamp will be
The best indication of how bright the lamp will be is the Lumens / watt output although some lamps only have an overall Lumen output
I would suggest you need to be looking for around 90 - 100 Lumens / watt

The big elephant in the room problem with lights is that 99.999% of average customers have historically only purchased lights based on the WRONG measurement... "Watts"

BUT.. Watts is Power Consumed...
Whereas, Lumens & Lux are measurements of light output & reflected light on surfaces...

Its a bit like buying a pair of jeans based on the weight of the fabric..
rather than waste & leg measurements!!
