you've been making out your skint like the rest of us and yet shop at RS lol.

hyper expensive.

i bet your like a pensioner pleading poverty just before he gets in his brand new motorROTFWL;)

With you now Lee. I know they are expensive , I use them for relays & bases mostly , Denmans are hopeless for stuff like that . I was also after a 240V X 6" loud bell , three wholesalers couldn't locate one ( or couldn't be bothered) RS had one on the shelf . Its horses for courses.

I use Wilts for Hager stuff , Denmans can get it but its such a performance , just go straight there.

Electric Centre are good for Uni-Strut , threaded rod , nuts 'n' bolts , girder clips, purlin clips etc.

I have noticed that CEF is not highly rated, just going by the posts above..... why's that??

Im just interested to know why, thats all :)

Have a search for CEF on this forum and youll find plenty of bad things said about them. Think they try to rip everyone off including account holders.

There staff work on a commision basis so the more they charge the more they earn hence why they charge so much for there gear.

Use local independant who is starting to give me some discounts, dont have an account as i want to know what my outgoings are on a continual basis.

Also use electrifix a lot as its convenient for regular stuff but I hate going in there as they havent a clue. Remember not too long ago asked them if they had a 32amp rotary isolator as I couldnt see one in the catalogue, the assistant came out with a washing machine isolating valve ffs lol..... well i suppose its for an isolation on an electrical appliance:slap

Also used Megger marks company a few times, TLC Direct, RS when I am feeling rich, and Electric Centre.

I've often thought this, but when I've asked them directly the staff and manager have said that while they do monitor sales and percentage of profit earned by staff, this does not affect their pay... still don't know if they're feeding me BS though

The manager of the wholesaler that I get most of my gear from moved to CEF he told me they get commision and he was a lot better of working for them.

I buy all my stuff from a local independent, built up a good relationship, get competitive prices on most things and they go out of their way to help you out.
This is exactly the way I went and have always had good prices from them but if caught short of something away from my local supplier will look for a screwfix.
