I have to admit I fell back on the old fencing trade (no not flogging snide gear) when I had nothing electrical in the book, did a 58 meter run of chain link & 2 field gates + 8" posts for local council yard.

Did the same last year but was 10ft high chain link around a tennis court, replacing vandalised old fencing as an insurance job.

I went social house bashing as it was that bad,,kicked off that to a refurb job,,,,, garage conversion,, cu change,,possible 15-20 properties requiring mains smokes and thats it

as for leaflet dropping,,,,,did 1000 a month ago glossy type not tacky not a call

terraced houses,,semi's ,detached all types nout

previous 1000 last year i got one phone call from a builder from out of town.......

3 refurbs 3 cu changes and lighting rewire in the summer.... overall a waste of time !!!
I agree , leaflet drops are a waste of time , straight in the recycle bin.

The local parish magazine is often a good way of advertising yourself locally. Had an emergency callout this morning out of an ad which has led to a partial rewire job at the property.

+1

Always getting little jobs from our parish magazine. Left home this morning with only one job to do this week and by lunchtime I'd sorted enough work for the next 3 days and one day next week!

bad for me as well. been working on my nvq level 3 and when yu use the agencys the answer is nope mate need guys for 5 days on site. After all how are you suaposed to improve your self if no one will help out?

Hey all, been a few years since posting on here...... still going ....just

I have not read through the forum so apologies if this has already been asked which i suspect it has, hows work for everyone? Im into 3rd week now of nothing, overall this year been dead, had a few re-wires etc and just about kept myself afloat but it just seems to be going worse and worse. considering giving it all up and looking into employment but i think there is even less of that around.

X(

Been a while since this was asked (2009) but anyone with/use Checkatrade?

I'm with them ok results not brilliant and it's very expensive I should put more effort in with it bit mainly do commercial stuff so it ends up being more paperwork for people who don't want it. It's also a regional thing.
