Hi all got a price for a 2-gang 2-way brushed chrome from CEF, the price made me laugh

Don't know why they do this, it kills me the amount of time I waste going through and checking my invoices from Ross electrical. If I buy something out the ordinary ,they charge me a fortune. Then I have to waste my time getting credit back for it.

I actually prefer screwfix/electrifix these days as I know what price I am paying.

Just a pity I can't get everything I need from screwfix.....!!!!

And to be honest they are actually cheaper these days than my wholesalers...

I'm starting to think the same might stick with screwfix for a while

It is annoying when you go in the wholesalers and they manually put in the discounts and have to check if youve bought the same item before so they make sure they charge you the same. Seems they charge what they can get away with. I'm the same as you guys prefer toolstation and electrifix/Screwfix but check online the stock level before you go lol

+1 for toolstation since they opened up right next door to my normal wholesaler last year.

I like the price transparancy, and the fact everything's listed in a catalogue.

+1 Dave the catalogues make pricing jobs much easier, no phone calls with them saying I will call you back in 10 minutes which turns into you calling them back after 2 hours!!!

With toolstation/screwfix does a cash account give you the same discount and are your quals all you need to open an account?

You don't need qualifications to open a screwfix account. For that matter I've never been asked for qualifications for my account with a wholesaler either.

Electrifix is a spin off from screwfix which in theory is trade only and a bit cheaper, but again, they just opened an account for me and never asked for qualifications.

Maybe they wanna make themselves look like discount, actually not a good way to attract customers.

Screwfix asked for my quals ! I told them oh yeah I've got them in my pocket, I carry them everywhere with me just incase this happens ! :slap

i think now they ask for proof of qualifications / company, but when they started, pretty much everyone with 'electrical' in the name for change to electricfix

They just checked my Napit membership online I didn't even have my wallet on me, I recently have tarted using another wholesaler because of the pricing issue kept getting surprises at the end of th month but yes I dont like not seeing prices and to be honest I try keep a bulk of my general gear in stock and get from cpc

seems as though many people on here use CPC on a regular basis, and there are never any complaints about them... unlike certain other wholesalers

i phoned CEF the other week to order some downlights... week later, phoned to see if they were in... and they have no record of it being ordered... unfortunately, CEF was the cheapest place i could find for them. you would think they would be on the ball a bit more when you order

+1 for CPC...but it is only a 20 minute drive away! The lads on the counter are double helpful, returns are never a problem. Quite often they will go out of their way to find the latest promo code so you get stuff cheaper. Got some elights last week [on offer] found a different promo code for me and they were a quid cheaper again!.

CEF on the other hand............ :coat

I use mostly Edmundsons in Rugby and am starting to use the new Denmans that's just opened nearby. I've got both set up to print the prices on my delivery chits that I get over the counter. that way i don't have to wait till the invoice arrives and I can look at it straight away to see if anything is obviously amiss.

I too like the price transparency of Screwfix.

I've 3 accounts neweys, edmundsons and CEF I used to put my job prices to all 3 but now just eddies and neweys as CEF are never close also all there stuff is carp. Thinking of opening a screwfix account wot discount do you get off the catalogue is it fixed or does it depend on how much u spend
