At a property to install sockets & lights in a garage conversion.

"For cash could you sign off the other electrical work that has been done around the house by me & the builder"

No but I can do a quick visual inspection today while I'm here & undertake a periodic at a later date if you like.

The following are reasons why you as a spark should not sign off diy/builders/kitchen fitters electrical work.

I did & quick IR of ring 0.00M ohms so did a bit of digging & customer points me to some JB's he had seen & some he'd fitted under the floor.

I've not done anything other than lift the cables from under the floor.

And now with the lid off.

Found multiple sockets like this.

That was where the IR fault was.

As a spur off a spur off the 30amp 3036 (uncontinious ring) the feed to the garden shed come workshop & an unfused down supply for a security light.

Yes that is 1mm going left to the light. 2.5mm from 30amp spur as the supply. 1.5mm swa for the feed to the sheds.

The shed installation..... remember I have not removed anything....this is how I found it all live & in use by the home owner to operate garden lighting / sockets for drill & saw + 2x freezers & a feed to a second shed.

So remember yes the temptation to pick up some cheers easy cash is there, just for giving a cert or part P sign off what harm could there be in it..............but your name could be against the like of the above.

I only signed off my work O) ..

That consisted of one 6amp & one 20amp 60898 retro fit mcb's for the old 3036 cu & fitted 2x remote 30mA rcd's next to the cu (more than the moben fitter/sparks did last year). 5x sockets on 2.5mm radial & 4x lights on 1.5mm.

I'm not sure I want the remedials.....it scares me of what else I might findROTFWL

Don't blame you mate... I feel the same about my cooker thread
I thought ( when I took a look at your pictures) Uuughhh a shed load of problems waiting there & what made me think that?.......all the properties I've been in with paint covered surface mounted cables have had shocking installations.

Good post M cant believe that socket picture with all those cables and connectors, did they manage to get it pushed back or did you find it hanging off the wall like that?

It was pushed back fixed & in use as you see it, as were four other sockets.

The place has loads of the old favourite.. multiple spurs from one socket, I advised that the 3036 be replaced with a 20amp 60898 retrofit mcb.
