Hi folks, new member here and complete novice. I’m in the process of building a large light up chess table and have chosen a ceiling LED panel as a light source.
what I need to know is how to power it safely and without causing any damage to the unit. I had thought about running a 3 core cable directly from the driver that came attached to the panel onto a standard plug. Is it doable?

Can't see why not as long as its all done in a workmanlike manner. By this I mean the flex secured by its sheath so that there can be no strain on the connections. The connections must be completely enclosed so inaccessible to anyone using or moving the device.    Fit a 3 amp fuse, and an inline switch, or switched plug,  would be good to avoid having to unplug all the time.

The only thing I would add is make sure it’s dimmable because those lights push out a lot of lumens ....
It is thankfully. Comes with a remote for colour and dim.

Great thanks for the info.
