    17th Edition course

I used the aforementioned Premier Training, at the Leeds centre, for my 17th Ed. "refresher". Excellent, would definitely recommend - but not cheap...

    really odd

I always verfiy the voltstick is working, using the tails, before I do anything else. Before I use it each time, I press the on/off button (even if it's flashing) that way if it's off - then I've switched it on, or if it's on then it beeps to tell me I just turned it off and I then turn it on...

    Peak Value

Amplitude? If it were a waveform on an oscilloscope that's what it would be.

    problems

D'oh, point taken Andy. Bloody messy though, don't you think - needs a tidy as well as fault finding.

    problems

First off I'd ditch the JB and gets some Wagos in there instead, those wire nuts look well overloaded, how many wires per?? What do your L/E & N/E IR tests show?? If it's a (L+N) to E fault then there's likely to be no inbalance to trip the RCD.

    Ring main connection

Shouldn't you also cover crimped connection with heat-shrink sleeve to retain double insulation of T&E?

    drive way lights

I used this when I wired up half a dozen "postlights" on a driveway recently. Ran it in plastic conduit buried 12" under the edge row of pavers (the lights were in this row). SWA was just too fat to run 1in/1out up the posts.

    Contactum

As Deke suggested, there is a huge Contactum "splash" ad in the current PE mag. "Contactum is back" Also feature in the article about the forthcoming ELEX show at Sandown Park in Dec. Article says; "One of the few remaining UK manufacturers of electrical accessories, Contactum was recently...

Discount-Electrical, does your experience mirror mine?

Sorry Nicky, it was a typo! 01482 373xxx was the number that called me. The number belongs to "Bonus Electrical Superstore" in Hull apparently - a partner/off-shoot/parent of D-E?

Discount-Electrical, does your experience mirror mine?

Today's parcel definitely came from Hull, and the lass that rang called from a 01483 number! I'm sticking to Denmans and Neweys now though. A few of my local sparky mates had suggested trying this mob but despite their low prices they just didn't seem at all organised! They might get a chance...

Discount-Electrical, does your experience mirror mine?

Tried these guys for the first time this week - the low prices were an incentive for getting the commodity bits for a tight-wad job early next week and to replenish the store shelves (back-boxes etc.) Not a good first impression though! Ordered at lunchtime weds, and they have as standard a...

    Wot, no neutral?

It's a very succesful club & team - just won the league cup, just missed out on promotion to the "conference north" (lost in play-off semi-final) and missed the play-offs by just 1 goal (goal diff) the season before. I'm a regular there, which is why they called me and not the numbnuts who...
