    Dodgy CU change

If you refer to the whole of the HSE documents then you will see that HSE at this stage were entering into the consultation procedure for the possible replacement of CORGI, and in certain documents it states that CORGI may be replaced and any references to CORGI are taken to mean CORGI or it...

    School PIR Advice

Discuss the limitations of the inspection with the customer. A PIR does NOT require 100% testing of circuits, IIRC GN3 suggests a 10% sample for dismantling & testing. I don't believe it would be undreasonable to leave some circuits untested due to not being able to isolate etc. Quite...

    Any bikers on here?

DREAM for me too! I have a full unrestrited licence, so I could (IF I had the money) go out and buy an unrestricted bike tomorrow and ride it to my hearts content. MIND, I've not thrown my leg over a m/cycle saddle for 10 years! I would love to get back to it... I would probably go for...

    Another costing query

Hi, I've put a price together for a commercial rewire following a fire incident. One section of the building completely gutted, it has affected the wiring in the other w/shop, the complete upstairs lighting in the offices, db's damaged etc. etc. 2 workshops, 2 stores areas, 3 toilets, canteen...

industrial extractor fans for carbon monoxide fumes

Please remember if you are going to design the extraction system then under legislation you must be competent to do so. If you are only installing the supplies and someone else is designing and providing the system then fine, else beware! This sort of system is classed as Local Exhaust...

    2 pinned plug

IIRC it is illegal to sell an electrical appliance into the UK market without a BS plug fitted. Thus the supplier has commited a criminal offence under statutory legislation. Edit. Remember a "shaver" plug is a BS plug!

    Again...

2659 & 2664, customer allowed us to clean out the panel and block the hole, but would not allow the replacement of the fuse holder and damaged wiring. 0529, this type of gland has ridges on the inside of the clamping faces, these can easily cut into the singles through vibration etc...

    Pull Mainfuse

Look guys, sorry to be the party pooper, however, none of you are legally allowed to pull the DNO fuse unless you are a DNO employee or other person authorised by the DNO in writing. If you do and something goes wrong you are in breach of EAWR89, and possibly ESQCR. I'm sure the DNO guys on...
