morning all,

I have a client that needs to industrial extractor ans that need to be supplied and installed...

the ventilation system is for a MOT testing garage, meaning that it needs to be powerful enough to remove the carbon monoxide fumes.

Can anyone recommend a manufacture and model that would be suitable.

Power is no issues as they have plently on free 3 phase circuits available.

Is this a general extract system to extract the air from the, erm, air, or a system with a hose for sticking directly on an exhaust? How many vehicles are likely to be in and running at a time?

there are two workshop bays with a total of 4 cars per work-shop.. lets say 2 cars will be running at the same time in each workshop.

i am looking to give the client a couple of options, one general fume extract and a hose type system which plugs directly on to the exhaust.

Please remember if you are going to design the extraction system then under legislation you must be competent to do so.

If you are only installing the supplies and someone else is designing and providing the system then fine, else beware!

This sort of system is classed as Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) and it is nothing to do with the fact it is exhaust fumes you are extracting!

These systems come under COSHH legislation.

See COSHH ACoP:

You will need PII to cover the design and the HSE recognised qualifications to cover you to demonstrate competence in the design installation & commissioning of the system.
