You are correct (if) using that table 41.1 however 411.3.2.3 explains why for a circuit above 32 amps can have a disconection time "not exceeding" 5 s.

Sorry to hear that sidewinder, I guess this time of year is not a pleasant time for you both.

The main thing is that you do have each other,my wife has lost both her parents I still have mine, and she reminds me that until I have lost them, I will never understand how she feels.

All you can do is be there for your wife and share the burden I guess.

I hope you both get through this hard time.

Kind regards and thoughts to you both

can you not fish it up the cavity?
And how would you propose he complies with part C of the building regs? And what if insulation is installed?

what does part c say?

so what if it has insulation all the info is in brb for derating

Never mind Part C, Andy's link in post #4 covers the subject adequately.
thats a external cavity i meant an internal one headbang

you can get your cable from loft down cavity wall (partition?) to under floor boards then across joists to above db

Ahh, I thought you meant external cavity too.

Conduit fine with me, even clipped if it is above a height were it is likely to be damaged. Would you question it if it was 1.5

Externally, yes. It really should be in black conduit but white is better than none.

Clarification of the job

back of cu into alleyway (painted white) and no direct sunlight

10-15m run in white conduit (25mm)

into landing into back of 45amp switch

into bathroom down wall in trunking to floor boards

underfloorboards then up the shower unit.

20m in total

supplimentary bonding in bathroom

no access to roof space above bathroom

hmmm ppl have a shower and have a habit of turning off the power to the shower straight after. wet hands!

isn't it a requirement to be pull cord still even outside?

good practice maybe?

nope

i could put it in the bathroom outside the zones

more chance of wet fingers

ah ha my very point. you could but you won't because you have a conscience so why not apply it further?

you might think "people aren't that stupid" to touch a switch with wet hands ! but they are and in my opinion the risk is high enough to not.

ok

if it was in an airing cupboard behind the shower would that be any different ?

I see your point Lee

but this will be above head height and when thery reach up to turn it off

(if they decide to) the water will have run down their arms so not a problem.

there is a phrase we use something like

'reasonably expected'
