Currently working on a swimming pool, and we need to switch 6 bathroom spots in an adjoining room. Problem is the bathroom switch is is too close to the edge of the pool to use mains voltage. And the client does not want to use an external type light switch. Thought we could switch using a contactor via a 12v supply. Just wondered what the best way to achieve a 12v supply would be? A bell transformer? Any suggestions would be welcome.

I wouldn't think a bell transformer would be continuous rated , which it needs to be holding when the solenoid in . So go for a control transformer (from RS or whatever). Obviously you then need a contactor with a 12V coil.

Could you use wireless remote switching? Something like a wisebox. Battery operated remote switch and keyfob options so no wiring needed to the switch. B-)
