13A sockets for EVs

Get a proper charge point installed, simple.
Stop listening to twats trying to sell cars who say they can be charged with a normal socket outlet.

That’s an unhelpful suggestion given they can’t have one, short of ripping ceilings down or surface trucking.

As I previously stated I’m after 13A suggestions.

It's a non-starter for me, the joys of living in a Victorian terrace house where you can't gurantee a parking spot outside your own property. Some of the local supermarkets are starting to install rapid chargers, but then you can't guarantee a space whilst you shop, although the apps do indicate when a charge point is available.

I've read that the Tesla charging points/app will start charging you for 'idle time' if you leave a fully charged car connected. I think the app alerts you when fully charged and you get something like 10 mins grace before they start charging you. Seems like a good way to dissuade people from blocking public charging points.

Not unhelpful at all.
If it’s surface trunking or ceilings down, so be it.
They wanted to have the EV, they have made their bed now they have to lay in it.
If that means a proper charge point because they were lied to by the scammer car salesman so be it, their problem, not yours.

Can't see that being very popular, even if it is needed. I've just installed 2 charging pillars with 2 type 2 sockets each at a block of holiday flats which has 26 properties. Trouble is the parking spots we have used for the EVs are popular with residents who come on holiday with top boxes on their cars which prevents them getting through the under ground section of the car park to the large car park at the rear. So I can imagine some heated discussions will ensue...

I would have normally stopped at 90% which is when th i3 charge rate reduces, because he's been so rude and aggressive I charged to 96%, made him wait 30 minutes longer.

I do not own a Tesla ( son does though ) I find in cases similar to this by "the entitled" Tw@s in society a smack in the face with an artisanaly crafted brick is a great ice breaker

I was tempted but it was much more satisfying drinking my Costa watching the charging rate drop. the first time I walked up to the screen he pulled out of his parking slot because he thought I was going.... WRONG

I suppose it's possible his need was greater then yours, perhaps he was rushing to see a dying relative etc, but I take your basic point and it's likely he was just a knob. But I wonder who will be the first victim of "charger rage" murder as we've already seen with "road rage"? Some people just can't chill out.

A granny charger cable is short anyway, so put an ev charger in just refuse the load. And use a 10m lead.

You got the old grey matter working overtime. When I got my i3 3 years ago I designed my own charger which took quite a bit of research and head scratching. Ive dug out the information and it is the PWM of the pilot line that sets the charge current

You are quite right about the resistor in the cable, it can only select between 13A, 20A, 32A and 70A though, it goes between PP & PE pins.

They can be charged with a granny charger, but some EV manufactures do not recommend doing this all the time. Apparently it's bad for the battery to do so?

Really. I would have thought slow charging would be better for the battery than fast.

Like wise, but apparently not all the time. Most charge points are Type 2 at 7kW, so not the high speed charging rate.
