Hi everyone,

Im new to this forum and was hoping one of you guys could help me. I have almost completed a bathroom installation including new downlights, shaver point, heat pad for mirror, shower and underfloor heating. I have one problem area being the SILAVENT MAYFAIR 2000 inline fan. So far i have put the fan up in the loft, run the flexiduct from the 12volt ip rated downlight to the fan itself. I am yet to connect the flexiduct to the sofit grill. As far as the wiring is concerned i have taken a 1.5mm t+e from the lights-switch live and neutral to the fan isolator-from the isolator to the fan itself. Im unsure if this is correct as it appears that the fan needs a 3core and cpc. When i turned the circuit on the lights worked, but the fan didnt. The fan is 230 volt by the way. Please help

Yid

the fan will need a perm live ??

i suspect it has a timer ???

live,switched live,neutral

First of all :Welcome:

It does not work because you also need a permanent live.

If it is not possable to get one now bridge the two connections in the fan it will run but the overun won't work ( it would be better to run a permanent live though)

Hi

The fan requires a Permanent live feed and Nuetral AND a switched live feed

This enables the fan to switch on with the light and then run on with timer control after the light has been switched off.

A 3 pole isolation switch is normally required

Any new wiring in Bathrooms reqiuires 30 m A RCD protection and is also notifiable to the Local Building Control.

I was called Yid all my forces life !!!

my dad told me, after looking at the family tree, that i am actually part Jewish 3 generations back along with being Dutch

dont ask me i dont know :D

i would change to a 3 core so the timer works, put it down to experience..

if it looks right it is . :)
