They're good at that sort of thing ,  I believe that the Founding Fathers , after ousting those dreadful British and declaring Independence ... formed a committee  to simplify the spelling of certain words , dumping unnecessary letters. 

Hence  examples like ,  color ,  Program , airplane  ...erm...er...um....and lots more .

it had NO '=' key

it used something called 'polish notation'

so 2 x 2.   Was 2 + 2. X

simple enough

however  sqroot of 4 Was log4 / 2 =

if you then reversed it you never got 4 as the answer.....well I know what I mean, but it was weird

Can't see how e raised to the power of π times i equals -1, but I am willing to learn.

Nah, it's to do with natural logarithms. e is a constant, about 2.718. e is equal to (1+(1/n))^n, as n approaches infinity. Stuff on Wikipedia.
