.....................at last the government has begun to see what the rest of us have known for years .

No benefits for four years ,  at last!

Next....a virtual total ban on all non EU immigration  ........its not rocket science ......small island ...overcrowded ...end of mass immigration .

Just heard on R5  ...a lady from Eastern Europe , came here , started a business , so you think   Hmm OK .....then she mentions her mother is here ... to look after the children ..........so there are in fact  four people , not one.

You have to remember that the majority of the Civil Service employees are Labour voters so they are reluctant to issue stats that "provide" clear information.

I recall the Labour propoganda of about 10 years ago praising an eartern european coming here to work as a Postman - sure he had a job but the taxes he was paying wouldn't have covered the costs of the state educating his kids, providing medical etc, and for lost of them housing benefit.

Lets hope there is more transparancy.

And 25% of all kids born in UK maternity wards are to "new comers" so the problems of housing and schooling are just around the corner

where on earth did you get that from? And lets get something else straight, as a died in the wool labour voter I am not for any more immigration and haven't been for decades so kindly stop spouting Daily Mail reader shite that all labourites are cuddly social workers who want our country to go to the dogs! Currently we need to build a City the size of Plymouth every year - absolutely not sustainable on top of however many cities we should have built to house the 20 years of immigrants that are already here....legal and illegal.

Biggest ,mistake of the Tory Blair government was following previous Tory policies, including mass migration to get cheap labour for big companies to make more profits.

Long over due, amazing how a few UKIP votes gets things moving at last. :Applaud :Applaud

Completely deluded,

If you are a Labour voter then by default you are voting for mass immigration and less Great Britian,

The reason labour let's them in is because they will get their vote,

How can you be so blinkered as to think otherwise.

A vote for labour is a vote for immigration and the benefits culture.

Didn't know that Miss SS ...... the Irish could always vote in Britain  :C

I never understood why every government since the early 1960,s has permitted unrestricted immigration into this tiny country ...so small that it would fit into Hudson Bay in Canada.

Living in a large city , you can now feel the overcrowding taking effect , and between 1960 and now , the population of this city  is now of  60% immigrant descent  with housing and schools being built to cater for the increase .    You only have to look at the traffic .

If I go to the area I grew up & went to school in ( which I tend to avoid)  you feel like a foreign interloper ,  in the words of "He who cannot be named"     it has been madness ....most young West Indians dislike  white people   ( I've experienced racism from them)  & the other lot are now turning against  us .

Racism you say ????   No the true feelings of most British people .

About time too.  I would not expect to go to a foreign country (where I have contributed nothing) and claim benefits so why was it ever possible for foreigners to so so here?

So ending it just seems right.  Why allow them to claim after 4 years? that should be never as well.

I don't suppose it will apply retrospectively to those already here?

They need to implement this straight away, not the normal we will implement it in 6 months time but tell everyone now. That will just create a rush to beat the deadline.

why cant we be more like aus or NZ?

points system for entry

Points given for; trade or profession, years of work experience in that trade, money, job offer, age etc.

If you don't have enough points you can't come simple as that. Took me ££££s and many months of form filling to get into NZ and I needed a job offer to get enough points.

If you ask me, labour govt opened the doors and imported another load of labour voters.

More to the point, if you've been employed for 20 years and become unemployed, you claim "contributions based" JSA - which are ONLY paid for 6 months.

If you claim "income based" JSA, your JSA will be paid indefinitely.

The UK benefits system is a heap of junk.

even the isle of Man has a better system,

an employer must prove there is NO Manx citizen that can do the job before you will be issued with a work permit,

even then, you will NOT get any benefits, no sick pay, nothing,

if you dont have a job you will get NOTHING, no unemployment benefit, no housing benefit, NOTHING

after 5 years of working there you no longer require a permit, you are now a Manx worker,

still NOT a citizen though, so your choice of benefits is VERY limited, unemployment short term , sick pay short term etc,

only after working for 10 years do you get access to proper benefits as you are then a Manx 'citizen' , of sorts.

things may have changed now though, it was almost 8 years since I left,

btw, I class as a Manx citizen,  :)   due to various periods of work there and other stuff,

In fairness there is another side to all this , ( and by the way , have others noticed that in the last 2 years there is a massive awareness and even fear ..of the massive influx into this country) ?    the other side is,  why is it that jobs are not taken by a resident worker ...they don't seem to want to work ..or seem to want an easy -peasy job with lots of money for doing sod -all .

I think there is another problem that MUST be tackled......the lazy, poorly educated Brtitish person who has grown up in the Social Benefit system their parents abused and passed on as a viable lifestyle and thinks the country owes them a living  and should be looking after them from the cradle to the grave.

Battern down the hatches we've done the poor and the disabled now we're doing the foreigners!

So much for these liberal polices of the past its time to start building a strong nation of super humans forget the weak and the poor.... oops went a bit to far

something lacking from capitalistists. Another 20% cut to local government budgets is yet to come, so who the firk is going to pay for looking after the truly disabled, mentally ill, and old folks etc etc

fact is you can claim benefits from any EU country, never did find out who has the best system :innocent

I agree with you Deke. I got a minimum wage job here with no contacts, no British qualifications and without English being my first language. Maybe it's not just the immigrants that are the problem...?
