Hi all,

I have to split an incoming supply [at the tails] to provide;

1, a feed to a 2 way, single phase CU [fitted with a 20A mcb]

2, a TP feed to an 80A mccb to protect a submain.

To save a lot of hassle messing about with henleys and mccb's etc, does anyone know if it is possible to get a TP distribution board that is rated for an 80A outgoing device [an mcb] and also if i can actually get an 80A TP, "B" curve mcb to go in it??

I know that wylex do an 80A mcb that would be just the thing, but it is a "C" curve one, and as the submain is rather long i do not think i will be able to get Zs down far enough for a "C" curve one!!!

Thanks!!!

Hi All,

Yes, i could use a switch fuse i suppose, but i would rather an MCCB as i am a bit pushed for space.

I was just thinking that if i could get a suitable mcb to protect the submain, instead of mucking about with a single phase CU and henleys and an MCCB i could combine the lot in the one DB, one set tails in, two SWA's out, and all the gubbins in the one "box" !!!

Hi Paul,

Now that is a good idea!! That would be just the thing!! Only problem is, i think it might be a bit pricey, as although the MCCB's themselves seem surprisingly cheap, flipping eck!!!! the boards themselves are fortunes!!!! [unless you know of a reasonably priced make!!]

Memsheild 3 boards have high current ways, from the website:

Type B TPN 250A High Load distribution boards

Developed to respond to the needs of modern commercial building applications, a new 250A TPN range of MCB boards delivers increased versatility by having the ability to supply and protect sub loads up to 125A. Based principally around standard 18mm MCBs and RCBOs, this range has provision for two TP 27mm MCBs, up to 125A. Available in sizes 2, 6, 8, 12, 18 and 24 TP ways, of which two ways are dedicated to the 27mm MCBs. 27mm MCBs are available SP or TP with ratings from 80A

Hi Wozz,

I just want to basically have a little board [if i can] to protect two circuits, one of about 20A [sP] and one of 80A [TP] without having to mess about assembling a pile of sundry bits and bobs to do the same thing!! [a SP CU, a TP MCCB and henleys etc]

What you describe sounds just the thing, if a bit massive!! [be like an artic tractor to tow a camping trailer!!]

Would look a lot neater though!!!!!
