BG engineers are my fave, had 1 come to my grandma's house and decide that after 35 years she needed additional venting in kitchen about 8 feet away from boiler. Couple of days later 2 guys turn up to drill a hole in wall and fit vents. They decided to drill hole directly above a double socket, guess what happens next!!

They sent a spark out who decided to join cables out in the hole which is now through the wall. Couple of weeks later she rings me up 'I've no power to part of my kitchen'. Went out to look, the wind blowing through the hole had disturbed his "repair using connectors" and the cables had come loose from them.

Sorted it out, billed BG and she received flowers by way of saying sorry

Thinking about this lot over the weekend, I had a look at my gas

arrangements.

Some 19 years ago the meter was moved to an external box on the

house front elevation, at my request.  There was no charge.

The man came along and I observed him from a distance, saying

tap-all.

He failed to do a drop test, made no noises about the bonding to

the gas line EVEN THOUGH the bonding MAY have had to be run

through the wall to the box interior.

We are not all perfect; and that includeth the gas man that cometh.
