I know I'm pushing my luck here but............

I have a project that is so old its on a 5.25" disks

If the disk can be read it saves me 2 days work.

Any of you "young" computer experts out there got access to a 5.25" disk?

cheers

Last 5.25" drive I had, we were using as a door stop and that was more then 10 years ago. I don't even think I have a 3.5" here any more. Good luck.

That looks to have the old edge connector rather than the 34 pin connectors on more recent devices and OMG the price.

The discs have Factory Automation software from Mitsubishi (called - MING).

They have the program for the graphics and PLC interfaces to the output of a large factory control system.

If I read the disk then I can read the graphics and update them a lot easier.

Believe it or not a large supplier to a car company here in the NE was still using windows 95 DOS to run part of his manufacturing plant.

Only discovered when one of the two computers failed.

Makes you wonder what else is out there doesn't it?

Slipshod and slapdash (can't believe I typed that)

They look like the machines.

If I were to post you the disc could you email me the contents?

cheers and thanks for helping everyone.

Call,

There are a lot of plants out there running such old kit!

Not had chance to look yet though I do have a machine capable of connecting to an IBM type HD 5.25", just having a breather then I'll tidy up & have a look see in case no one else can find anything.

I know the machine worked the last time it was used, except i have not got a clue how to operate DOS. I have no peripherals either, its long before USB's & windows.

Out of interest, my brother bought that machine around 1982 & paid

All southern trains (only bought a few years back) run Windows 95. They need to be 'rebooted' fairly often too.

Sorted - Thanks guys.

Your responses gave me food for thought and when I dropped my kid of for school this morning.

Guess what they have a pc still running dos program and 5 1/4" disc reader.

So pleased, and surprised to find out just how much of our industry is running on DOS still!

Thank you all
