In the office again.
I just went to a website, to buy a replacement Underfloor heating thermostat.

Found a good price, created an account, went back to the item - price has gone up. If I`m not logged into the site, its cheaper than when you DO log in. They acted surprised on the `phone, but then again, they would - either way!

Then they say "okay - you can have the cheaper price, `cos thats the right price. By the way, delivery is

If they had done that to me (and it has been tried on several occasions mate) - I would tell them to ****** off (putting it politely) and pay the extra else where.

Can you PM the company name mate?

Oh, and in asnwer to your question...

I'd say "Attempted rip-off".

Id say deffo a rip off, hoping you dont notice the price change on the pay screen.

Have had it a few times when a 'handling' charge has been inserted at the very bottom with no notice about it, right at the end where you click to confirm payment.

I don't think shops have to sell stuff for marked prices ( thanks Martin Lewis... I know..)

Correct, an advertised price is an offer for you to enter into a contract & the law accepts mistakes can happen. In this case the seller did not withdraw the item or amend his price, but told me to sort it out elsewhere.

Are you sure that was CEF they are not normally like that.

The best one was 20 odd years ago when i was employed & got a call from head office asking what the f**k i was buying that cost thousands. It turned out to be a packet of 100 x 6mm crimp lugs that the manufacturers part No was the same as CEF's own stock No for brass 3 phase welding sockets (what ever they are !!!) Nice try though :slap
