Not sure, was a dno install as far as the REC2, after that i think the privateers stepped in!!!

john..
  1. privateer or "corsair" was a private person or ship authorized by a government by letters of marque to attack foreign vessels during wartime. Privateering was a way of mobilizing armed ships and sailors without having to spend treasury resources or commit naval officers.
Sounds like these guys stepped in ;)

So , steering the thread back on course  ;)

Went there today , what a cork up !

Just to recap ... house divided into 2 flats , up & down.  Cash meters in flats , landlord orders card meters via his electric providor , Siemens coming today .

I go today to remove cash meters & fit Henly Blocks ,  I do the upstairs one  & Meterman arrives .

" Two meters to fit ?"       " Thats it mate they're up there "     "Right  one Smart meter and one gas meter "    "Eh!"   "Thats whats on my laptop "   " No..its two electric meters"       " Can't do that ..not on the laptop"      "But theres two flats no one mentioned gas"    " Gotta do it now I'm here  this meter comes out , smart meter goes in"    "No thats the Landlords meter  it will be feeding both flats "    " Can't help that gotta do it "

Thats how it ended up :-

Top flat no cash meter

Bottom flat with cash meter  fed from smart meter

Smart card meter feedin whole house ..paid by upstairs tenant

Smart gas meter heating both flats paid by upstairs tennant

Landlord's board fed from smart meter  paid by upstairs tenant

Right crock up !

Probably made it worse Andy .   I just knew that a meterman would NOT suss out that there was a Landlord's board , and I fully expected keeping that connected would be a problem ...but to be changing only one meter   and then the GAS meter  ....where do they get that from FFS  ??

You know Andy ...it was just like one of Stepp's jobs  :innocent

Yes I think you're right ,   the guy could only see...... one house ..one leccy meter , one gas meter .

And who will be topping up the gas meter that feeds the boiler that heats both flats. ?

Well that was October , now its November  and still it goes on .

The Landlord has re-requested for a meter for each flat .

He is having the GAS central heating isolated from the upper flat and an electric central heating unit fitted.

SO downstairs will have a smart GAS meter  AND a smart ELECTRIC meter .    SORTED !!!!  :)

Upstairs will be ALL electric  BUT powered from the DOWNSTAIRS meter , paid for by the downstairs tenant  via a pre-payment card!!! :(

They now say they cannot do it any differently and are now looking at running a second supply from the street !!!!!  :C

They cannot grasp the concept of splitting the metering at the cut-out .

UNLESSS !!!!! ....it is to give them the option of cutting supply in the street to one or both flats.     (  But they don't do that for 18 story block so what the hell is wrong with these people )  ???

What does BNO mean  Sidey ?

The DNO is Western Power  but  they, of course , don't do metering .

He.s dealing with  1st Direct or something ....whoever he buys the power from .

OK Deke, thought.

Can you get sense out of DNO to split their incoming head into say 2 REC 2's then get metering operator to fit 2 meters one each to these?

Now that is a GOOD idea !   12 years ago they upgraded their incomer from a 16mm STA  to a 35mm concentric.       Only one Mpan Number is the stalling point ..............seems simple to me ..just create  one for each flat   :C

Landlord is dealing with this 1st Direct outfit who, hopefully , will speak to WP .

I'm keeping out of any discussions because in the past they say "We can only speak to the bill payer / building owner etc.

WPD can create the MPAN for you, so it may help to deal with them, maybe KME or I can pull a favour in down here if needed.

See if you can get through to the local technical office, you should get sense then, well we do round here anyway.

We also normally get to talk sense with WP , but they're not involved at the moment ,  the metering side of things seems to have gone down the tubes .

Landlord is speaking again tomorrow , but  thinking in terms of changing supplier to get some sense .

As I said above  , the bloke they sent out from the very German sounding electrical company has rendered the upstairs flat un - rentable until its divided up again .   Downstairs man has gone ...upstairs man has moved downstairs .

Actually its a disgrace ,   landlord says I have two flats in a house , I'd like a top-up card style electric meter for each one :C

Can you not be the BNO Evans? Have this issue with housing associations where no one knows who they are and it takes ages to get someone to take responsibility for the gear and they charge a **** load to turn up! ;
