Hi, I cut through a security alarm cable yesterday by accident, the internal alarm sounded, the code was entered which stopped the alarm. The tamper light was displayed on the keypad, i rejoined the cables entered the code and pushed reset, the tamper light extinguished and the panel was back to normal. The customer telephoned me tonight to say the alarm will not set and there is no power to the pir's. I have no experience with alarms at all. Any idea's? I will check the panel tommorrow to check the fuse.

Cheers

There will most likely be a blown glass fuse on the PCB inside the panel. There will be 2, 3 or 4 fuses in total. There may also be some text printed on the PCB that tells you which is which. Find it, take it out, get a matching item and replace.

Wot he said, ^^^^^^

when you cut the cable you shorted the 12v supply to the p.i.r, panel, bell box

On the board there will be a blown glass fuse likely to be 1A or similar

Replace and bobs your uncle

Unless it's one of the latest alarm panels that doesn't have the glass fuses, if so drop off the mains and battery power for 10 seconds, reaply the power and that should have reset the trip.

Thanks SLIP SLAP, I have no idea why someone de-scoobed, but, they are welcome to their own opinion. Though I do believe they should give reason for such. I probably wouldn't have even noticed had it not been mentioned.

I hope it weren't me as I've descoobed someone accidentally and had to look for another post to re-scoob to cancel out the other ffs poxy sensitive iPhone screen lol

I de-scoobed you!
